A secret input was received by HC Dilip regarding one person namely Shahjad @ Uvesh S/o Azad Khan, R/o Mangolpuri, Delhi, who is a habitual criminal carrying illegal weapons for the purpose of extortion. He was also reported to be wanted in a case of forceful kidnapping of a girl from the area of PS Sultanpuri, Delhi.
To act on the information, a dedicated team Was assigned under the supervision of DCP Vikram Singh (Crime Branch) ,the team worked relentlessly and gathered actionable intelligence about the accused through local sources and technical surveillance. On 09.09.2025, specific information was received that the accused would be coming to the Rohini area near Metro Walk at night. Acting swiftly, the team was strategically deployed in the vicinity of Metro Walk, Rohini, under the directions of ACP Kailash Chander, ER-II, Crime Branch.
Around midnight, a suspicious individual was spotted coming from Rithala towards G3S Cinema
Hall. The team identified and swiftly overpowered the suspect, who was later confirmed to be Shahjad @ Uvesh. During the search, two country-made pistols and three live cartridges were recovered from his possession—one pistol was loaded with all three cartridges.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that he habitually carries firearms to intimidate small vendors and shopkeepers for extortion purposes on the directions of one Kaif. He also admitted to his involvement in the forceful kidnapping of a girl from the jurisdiction of PS Sultanpuri.
In this regard, FIR No. 240/25 under Sections 25/54/59 Arms Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
