The Delhi Police Crime Branch has solved a big daylight dacoity case in which Rs. 14 lakh were looted from a pan masala dealer’s godown in Anand Vihar on 31st Aug
A special team of ARSC Crime Branch, led by ACP Sanjay Kumar Nagpal, under the supervision of DCP (Crime Branch) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the team together worked on the case using CCTV footage, technical inputs, and local intelligence. The car used in the crime, an Alto with fake number plates, was traced. After continuous efforts, the police arrested three accused — Deepak Sharma, Amir Suhail, and Momin.
Deepak Sharma was arrested from Village Panchi, District Baghpat (U.P.) along with Amir Suhail. Whereas Momin was arrested from Khajuri Chowk, Delhi.
Police have recovered 2 country-made pistols, 1 sophisticated Beretta pistol, 17 live cartridges, The Alto car used in the dacoity.
According to police, the planning began when Deepak Sharma had informed his gang leader Rashid about the large cash at the godown. On 31 Aug, Rashid and his associates — Amir, Deepak, Momin, Rahul, and Sameer @ Ganja — gathered near Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad.
They drove to Anand Vihar in the Alto arranged by Amir Suhail and looted Rs. 14 lakh at gunpoint.
After the crime, they went to Baghpat, U.P., and divided the stolen money. Rashid had instructed the gang not to carry mobile phones to avoid being tracked.
The gang was also planning another dacoity in Aligarh, U.P. where they had information about Rs. 80–90 lakh hawala money being transported. They even conducted a recce on 5 September, but before they could strike, Delhi Police arrested them. UP Police has been informed to take further action.
Police also revealed the criminal background of the arrested accused. Deepak Sharma has been involved in 7 criminal cases earlier, including murder, robbery, and Arms Act violations across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. He currently runs a mobile shop in Gurugram but remained active in crime. Momin had served 12 years in jail for a murder case in Meerut and later joined Rashid’s gang to supply weapons; he already has 2 cases on record. Amir Suhail, who runs a home appliance shop in Gurugram, had no previous criminal history but joined the gang recently to earn easy money.
Police have registered two cases in connection with the incident. The first, FIR No. 412/25 at PS Anand Vihar, is for the daylight dacoity of Rs. 14 lakh. The second, FIR No. 242/25 at PS Crime Branch, has been registered under the Arms Act for the weapons recovered from the accused.
According to DCP (Crime Branch) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, with the arrest of these three criminals, the Rs. 14 lakh dacoity case has been solved. Efforts are on to catch the other gang members too.
