In a major crackdown on narcotics, the South District Police have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 37.79 kg of ganja (commercial quantity), one car, and one motorcycle used in the crime. The accused have been identified as Pramod Kumar, Sanjay Chaturvedi, and Anit Soam.
The action was taken and FIR was registered under sections 20/25 NDPS Act, PS Ambedkar Nagar.
On 27 Sep, police received information about a drug supplier delivering ganja parcels through delivery apps like Porter. A team under the overall supervision of ACP Dinesh Sharma (CR Park), was constituted.
Acting on a tip-off, the team laid a trap near Laxminarayan Mandir, Madangir Village, and arrested Pramod Kumar with 1.761 kg ganja. On his instance, his associate Sanjay Chaturvedi was arrested from Noida with 676 grams of ganja.
Further interrogation led the team to Meerut, UP, where supplier Anit Soam was arrested with 35.34 kg ganja and a car used in transportation.
Profile of Accused
- Pramod Kumar (42) – Former Porter worker, started parcel-based drug delivery in Delhi-NCR.
- Sanjay Chaturvedi (32) – Associate of Pramod, involved in drug supply.
- Anit Soam (27) – Supplier from Meerut, previously arrested under NDPS Act in UP.
Police have recovered
- 37.79 kg ganja worth approx. ₹13.22 lakh
- One car used for transportation
- One motorcycle used in crime
The arrested accused have been booked, and investigation is underway. Police said that the staff involved in the operation will be suitably rewarded for their efforts.
