North Delhi Police bust cyber fraud gang – Two arrested for cheating youth with fake Indigo Airlines jobs

Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi

The Cyber Police Station of North District has arrested two men who were cheating people by offering fake jobs in Indigo Airlines. The accused used Facebook ads and fake documents to trap innocent job seekers.

An 18-year-old youth, Rohit Yadav from Jharoda Majra, Wazirabad, complained online that he lost ₹24,100 in this fraud. He saw a job post on Facebook and contacted the given number. Later, a man calling himself Rohit Sharma asked him to pay money in the name of form fees, dress charges, agreement fees, and file charges.

The victim paid the money through UPI. After this, he was sent a fake gate pass and a false appointment letter of Indigo Airlines. When he asked further, the fraudsters blocked his number. Based on his complaint, a case was registered at PS Cyber North.

under the supervision of Inspector Rohit Gahlot, SHO Cyber North, and guidance of Ms. Vidushi Kaushik, ACP Operations (North District) started the investigation.

Police found that the cheated money went into a bank account in the name of Azad Khan from Faridabad. The mobile number used in the fraud was registered in the name of Ajay, also from Faridabad.

On 25 September, police raided Faridabad and arrested both accused – Azad Khan (25 years, welder, school dropout) and Ajay (30 years, painter, studied till 12th).

During questioning, both accused admitted that they wanted to earn quick money to live a luxury life. They created fake job ads on Facebook and used false airport passes and letters to cheat people. The cheated money was spent by them on daily needs.

Police have recovered

    • One mobile phone with SIM used in the fraud
    • Fake letters and documents in the name of Indigo Airlines.

According to DCP North District, shri Raja Banthia, said that the police acted quickly to catch the fraudsters. He assured that North District Police will continue strong action against cyber crime and protect citizens from such scams. Further investigation is in progress.
