Report Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
In a major success, the Crime Branch team has arrested an absconding criminal after 12 years of continuous search. The accused, Gautam Yadav (32), a resident of Village Kharik, District Jamui (Bihar), was wanted in a 2013 daylight robbery case of Kirti Nagar. A reward of ₹20,000 was announced for his arrest.
The Incident (2013)
On 8th March 2013, FIR was registered at PS Kirti Nagar. The complainant, a woman landlord, reported that her servant Gautam Yadav along with three associates entered her room, tied her hands and legs, gagged her mouth, and robbed her jewellery including two gold bangles, a chain with locket, and a ring.
During investigation, two accused – Suraj Yadav and Suresh Yadav – were arrested. But Gautam managed to escape and was later declared a Proclaimed Offender.
To trace him, a dedicated team was formed under Inspector Mahipal under the supervision of ACP Satendra Mohan and overall guidance of DCP Harsh Indora.
Acting on a tip-off, the team tracked Gautam to Gangeshwar Nagar, Jaipur. After a swift operation, he was finally arrested on 30 Sep 2025.
During questioning, Gautam admitted that he planned the robbery while working as a servant at the victim’s house. He allowed his associates inside when the woman was alone. The gang tied her up, threatened her with a knife, and looted her gold ornaments.
While the other accused were arrested earlier, Gautam kept changing his locations between Chennai, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. To avoid being caught, he worked small jobs including as an e-rickshaw driver and avoided going back to his native village in Bihar.
Gautam Yadav, uneducated, originally belongs to Jamui, Bihar, but had been living near Galta Gate, Jaipur. In Delhi, he got involved with criminal groups which pushed him into crime.
This successful operation stands as a reflection of the strong leadership of Sh. Harsh Indora, DCP Crime Branch, whose guidance and supervision ensured the long-pending case was brought to closure. His constant focus on pursuing absconding criminals and his commitment to justice played a vital role in the arrest of the offender after 12 years. The achievement not only brings relief to the victim but also reinforces public faith in the Delhi Police.
