Delhi Police Crime Branch (Central Range) has busted three illegal factories making fake desi ghee in North-East Delhi. Police seized 1,625 kg of adulterated desi ghee and arrested six persons who were running this racket In this big the festive season.
The operation was started after police received information that some groups were mixing harmful chemicals in desi ghee to make money during Dussehra and Diwali season. The raids were carried out to protect people’s health and stop Adulterated products from reaching the market.
Details of Raids:
👉 Shiv Vihar, Karawal Nagar – 1 accused Safiq (30 yrs) arrested.
• Seized 33 tins = 520 kg fake desi ghee, chemicals and medicines.
👉 Shiv Vihar Phase-7 – 4 accused arrested: Yusuf Malik (50 yrs), his son Mehboob (22 yrs), Shakir & Sharukh (both from Ghaziabad).
• Seized 28 tins = 440 kg fake desi ghee, chemicals, gas cylinders, stoves, and equipment.
👉 Old Mustafabad – 1 accused Zamaluddin (40 yrs) arrested.
• Seized 44 tins = 665 kg fake desi ghee, chemicals, gas cylinders, and other items.
Total Recovery:
- 1,625 kg of adulterated desi ghee
- Harmful chemicals & medicines
- Gas cylinders, stoves & manufacturing tools
During the interrogation the accused revealed that they bought Dalda (vanaspati ghee) and cheap refined oil from the market. They mixed and heated it, then added chemical flavors and colors to make it look and smell like real desi ghee. The fake ghee was packed in tins and sold to dairies and shops during the festive season.
Production cost: ₹1,300–1,400 per tin
Selling price in market: ₹3,500–4,000 per tin
About the Accused:
- Yusuf Malik (50 yrs): Habitual offender, earlier arrested in a similar case. His son Mehboob was also involved.
- Shakir & Sharukh: From Ghaziabad, worked as suppliers and transporters.
- Safiq (30 yrs) & Zamaluddin (40 yrs): Locals who set up their own small fake ghee units.
Under the leadership of DCP Vikram Singh, the Crime Branch achieved a major success by seizing 1,625 kg of fake desi ghee just before the festive season, preventing a serious health risk to the public. His swift and effective action highlights his strong commitment towards protecting citizens from harmful adulteration and ensuring strict enforcement of law. This crackdown not only dismantled an organized racket but also restored public confidence in the vigilance and efficiency of Delhi Police during the festive period.
