Delhi Police Special Cell arrests two wanted criminals after encounter in Kapashera

Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested two wanted criminals after an encounter in Kapashera area of Delhi. This operation is a big step towards breaking the network of gangsters who operate from abroad and spread crime in India.

The arrested criminals have been identified as Aakash Rajput, resident of Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan), and Mahipal, resident of Bharatpur (Rajasthan).

According to police, Aakash Rajput was involved in a firing incident outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal, in July 2022. The firing was carried out at the instructions of gangster Daler Kotia, who is operating from abroad. He was also wanted in a kidnapping-for-ransom case in Gujarat in July 2025, where gangster Kiritsinh Jhala had demanded ₹100 crore from the victim. Rajasthan Police had already announced a reward of ₹20,000 on him. Recently, he had joined hands with wanted gangsters Jagdish Jagla and Abhishek Gaur, and through them was linked to the network of Rohit Godara – Goldy Brar – Virender Charan. He was preparing a fake passport to escape abroad.

Mahipal, the second accused, was earlier arrested in the same Karnal firing case but later released on bail. He too had joined the network of foreign-based gangsters with Aakash Rajput.

The encounter took place in the morning in Kapashera. During the exchange of fire, Aakash Rajput was shot in the lower body. Both accused were arrested on the spot. The injured criminal was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

The arrest of Aakash Rajput and Mahipal is a big success because they were linked to multiple states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Haryana. Their network was connected to notorious foreign-based gangsters like Daler Kotia, Kiritsinh Jhala, Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan.Stopping them has weakened the local support system of these gangs.

This successful operation once again highlights the sharp leadership of Additional CP Special Cell, Shri Pramod Singh Kushwah, whose consistent strategy and supervision have played a key role in breaking the nexus of foreign-based gangsters and their local aides. Under his guidance, the Special Cell has continuously shown professionalism, courage, and dedication in tackling organized crime and protecting the people of Delhi. His team’s swift and effective action in Kapashera not only resulted in the arrest of two wanted criminals but also dealt a major blow to the network of dreaded gangs operating across multiple states.Further investigation is in progress.
