Delhi Police IGI Airport team has arrested agent Guramritpal Singh Multani @ Pali (54), a resident of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, in a major crackdown on fraudulent travel agents. He was wanted in a 2019 case involving fake Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDCs) used to send passengers abroad illegally.
Police said that Multani, who claims to be a former national-level Kabaddi player, had settled in Canada with his family in 1995 and later became a Permanent Resident in 1999. In the greed of quick money, he joined hands with other agents and started arranging fake documents to send people abroad.
Back in September 2019, nine Indian passengers were deported from Ethiopia after they were caught with fake CDCs. Investigations revealed that Multani had arranged these forged certificates, charging ₹20 lakh each from two passengers. He worked with an associate named Manjeet from Jalandhar. While five accused had already been arrested earlier, Multani had been absconding abroad.
Recently, Multani returned to India and was arrested at Ahmedabad Airport on 29 September 2025. Records show that he is involved in seven similar cases, dating back to 2009.
The arrest was made by a team led by Inspector Satish Yadav under the supervision of Inspector Virender Tyagi (SHO IGI Airport) and overall guidance of ACP Pradeep Meena.
Multiple FIRs between 2009–2021 under IPC and Passport Act at IGI Airport Police Station. Delhi Police highlighted that during September alone, 52 persons were arrested/booked in fake visa and forged passport cases, showing the scale of operations against such rackets.
This arrest marks a significant achievement for the IGI Airport Police in their fight against international immigration fraud. The consistent efforts of the team under the leadership of DCP IGI Airport, Vichitra Veer, deserve special appreciation. His proactive strategy and strict action against fraudulent agents have helped safeguard the integrity of India’s travel system and protect innocent citizens from exploitation.
