In a major step towards curbing illegal arms and criminal activities, the Outer North District Policearrested two accused and recovered two country-made pistols along with two live cartridges during vigilant patrolling in the Mukundpur area.
As per the directions of senior officers to improve patrolling, visibility, and police presence in the area, a special drive is being carried out under the leadership of Vijay Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police, Northern Range, and the overall supervision of Hareshwar Swami, DCP Outer North District.
During this drive, on October 4, at about 3:15 PM, a police team under the supervision of Inspector S.S. Yadav, SHO Bhalswa Dairy, and guidance of ACP Vijay Kumar Vats, Swaroop Nagar, was conducting routine patrolling near Chhat Ghat, Shukla Colony, Jheel Road, Mukundpur.
The team noticed a suspicious pedestrian and intercepted him. On enquiry, he was identified as Jatin, aged 20 years, son of Naresh, resident of Gali No. 10/2, D-Block, Mukundpur, Delhi. During his search, the police recovered one country-made pistol (katta) and one live cartridge from his possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 664/2025 under Section 25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Bhalswa Dairy, and investigation was taken up.
During sustained interrogation, accused Jatin disclosed that he had purchased the illegal weapon from Sachin, aged 19 years, son of Sunil Gupta, resident of D-1168, Gali No. 17, D-Block, Mukundpur, Delhi,for ₹4000 a few days earlier to threaten the public.
He further revealed that Sachin was also in possession of another firearm. Acting swiftly on this input, the police team conducted a raid and successfully apprehended Sachin. Upon search, another country-made pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from his possession.
Further investigation revealed that accused Sachin had previously been apprehended in a criminal case registered under FIR No. 252/2024, U/s 363/376 IPC & 8 POCSO Act at PS Bhalswa Dairy.

Investigation and Further Action
The matter is under active investigation. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the source or supplier of these illegal weapons. Police are also verifying any possible link of the accused with other criminal elements in the locality.
