Report : Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has successfully arrested Sahil alias Mayank Manchanda alias Janu, son of Late Manoj Manchanda, resident of Paharganj, Delhi. He was wanted in the Subhash Nagar firing case registered under FIR No. 528/2025, PS Rajouri Garden, under relevant sections of the BNS and Arms Act.
After committing the crime, the accused had gone into hiding with his associates in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, frequently changing their locations to avoid arrest. Through a well-coordinated operation using technical and manual intelligence, the Crime Branch team managed to track and arrest him near Rajouri Garden Metro Station, Ring Road, Delhi.
On 02 October 2025, two unknown persons came in a car and opened fire at a house in Subhash Nagar, Rajouri Garden. Several empty cartridges were found at the spot. A case was immediately registered under the Arms Act and the BNS.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, a special team of WR-I, Crime Branch was formed under the supervision of DCP Crime Branch Harsh Indora. He directed the team to track down the culprits using both manual and technical methods.
On 04 October, HC Dinesh received a specific tip-off about the accused’s movement near Rajouri Garden Metro Station. Acting swiftly, the team laid a trap and apprehended the accused in a moving car, which was later confirmed to be the same Maruti Baleno used in the crime.
During questioning, Sahil alias Mayank Manchanda revealed that he had a personal dispute with his maternal uncle (the victim).
His uncle had been pressuring him to compromise in the murder case of his late father, who was killed in 2022 at Paharganj during a fight.
There was also a dispute over possession of a car, which added to the tension.
Angry over these issues, Sahil decided to take revenge and planned the attack with his friend Rishabh Puri. They went to his uncle’s house in Subhash Nagar in a car and fired four rounds before escaping from the spot.
