The Special Staff team of Outer North District Delhi, received a tip-off that a criminal was moving around the area on a black scooty with a firearm. Acting swiftly on this information, the police team under the supervision of Hareshwar Swami DCP Outer- North District was launched for this search operation.
When the team spotted a black scooty matching the given description near G Block, NIA, they tried to stop the rider. However, instead of stopping, the suspect opened fire and shot two rounds at the police team. In self-defence, the Special Staff team retaliated and fired three rounds, one of which hit the accused on his right leg.
The injured person was identified as Aftab Alam alias Atti, son of Abrar Alam, a resident of KK Colony, Bawana, PS NIA. He is a known criminal and has been involved in several cases of snatching, robbery, and even murder.
The injured accused has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Further legal proceedings are underway.
