Red Fort Blast Investigation: Focus on Umar’s Movements, Faridabad Link, and Mystery Behind the Explosion
Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
In the Red Fort blast investigation, over 500 officers and personnel from different top agencies — IB, NIA, NSG, Special Cell, and local police — have been deployed. The team includes officials from the constable level up to Inspector, ACP, DCP, Additional CP, Joint CP, and Special CP ranks.
All these officers have been divided into different teams, and each team has been given a specific task to investigate.
According to sources, more than 1,000 CCTV footages are being checked.
Delhi Red Fort Blast – Focus on 3 Key Factors
The investigation by Delhi Police and security agencies has now centered on three major factors.
1. The Most Crucial 3 Hours
The three hours when Dr. Umar parked his car in the Red Fort parking area are under close scrutiny.
Police are trying to find out:
Where Umar went during that time,
Whom he was talking to on the phone,
Whether he met anyone in Delhi or Faridabad,
How he conducted the reconnaissance (survey) near Red Fort,
And whether he was waiting for peak hours to cause maximum impact.
Reports show the car entered the parking lot at 3:19 PM and left at 6:22 PM.
By then, Umar already knew that some of his associates had been caught and that the police were closing in.
So investigators are asking — why did he take the risk of staying for 3 hours in such a high-security area of Delhi?
Was he waiting for help from a sleeper cell or a local contact for logistics support?
2. The Faridabad Connection
In Faridabad’s Al-Falah University, the names of three doctors have already come up.
Now, police are trying to identify how many other active or sleeper cell members were involved.
They are investigating:
Where such a large quantity of arms and explosives came from,
Whether these were brought in different batches over time,
And who supplied and transported them.
Investigators are also checking the Telegram group through which these people were connected who the other members were, how long it had been active,
and whether Umar, Mujammil, or Adil personally conducted the Delhi reconnaissance or assigned someone else to do it.
3. Nature of the Explosion
In most past Delhi bomb blasts, the explosives contained sharp metal objects like nails, ball bearings, or blades to increase the impact.
However, in this case, no such objects were found.
This raises a major question
how did the blast cause such a powerful impact that several nearby cars were destroyed,
yet there was no crater or hole on the road, as usually seen at blast sites?
The mystery deepens as investigators continue piecing together the exact method and materials used in the explosion.
