Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, after he was deported from the United States to India on Tuesday.
Anmol had been hiding in the US since 2022. He is the 19th accused arrested in the terror-gangster case led by Lawrence Bishnoi. The NIA had filed a chargesheet against him in March 2023, saying he helped terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in several terror-related activities between 2020 and 2023.
According to the NIA, Anmol was running the Bishnoi gang’s operations from the US. He provided shelter and support to shooters and gang members, and was also involved in extortion in India while staying abroad.
The NIA is still investigating case number RC 39/2022/NIA/DLI as part of its efforts to break the network of terrorists, gangsters, arms suppliers, and their funding channels.
Anmol has reached Delhi’s IGI Airport. The NIA has arrested Anmol and he will be produced in court and remand will be requested.
