Central Delhi Jaguar Team Catches Snatcher in Karol Bagh

Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi

The newly launched Vigilant Jaguar Patrolling Team of Central District nabbed a desperate snatcher red-handed in Karol Bagh on 17 September just a day after being rolled out.

The incident took place around 7:00 pm near Metro Pillar No. 122, Pusa Road. A man was returning home after meeting his brother when a black Suzuki Burgman scooty rider suddenly approached and snatched his mobile phone.

At the same time, the Jaguar-2 team, comprising ASI Bijender, HC Manoj, and Ct. Rakesh, was patrolling the area. Hearing shouts of “Pakdo, Pakdo,” HC Manoj spotted the accused trying to flee. The Jaguar team immediately chased him.

During the pursuit, the official motorcycle of the police slipped near a traffic signal. Without losing time, the police staff continued the chase on foot and overpowered the accused. The snatched mobile phone, a Realme C33, and the scooty (DL 9 SCH 7305) used in the crime were recovered.

The arrested accused has been identified as Aniket (22), resident of Dayal Park, New Delhi. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed he was unemployed, studied up to 9th standard, and was addicted to intoxicants. To meet his drug expenses, he indulged in snatching. His past involvements are being verified.

The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Ashish Kumar, Sub-Division Karol Bagh, on the directions of SHO Saket Kumar, PS Karol Bagh. A case has been registered at Karol Bagh police station under relevant sections of the law.

The Jaguar teams, launched on 16 September, by Special CP (L&O Zone-I) Ravindra Singh Yadav from the Red Fort, are equipped with GPS-fitted motorcycles and staffed by specially trained officers to patrol sensitive and crime-prone areas. This initiative aims to ensure stronger police presence, quicker response, and improved public safety.

👏 The swift and vigilant action of the Jaguar Team once again reflects their dedication to protecting citizens from street crimes. Their timely response has reinforced people’s trust in Delhi Police.

🙏 Special appreciation to DCP Central, Nidhin Valsan, for his strong leadership and constant encouragement that motivates the team to perform with excellence. Under his guidance, Central District Police continue to set high standards in ensuring public safety and security.
