The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has cracked a sensational daylight armed robbery case of PS South Rohini by arresting four accused, including the mastermind. The arrested have been identified as Bharat (22), Hitesh (22), Gautam @ Bhura (22), and Ashwani @ Ashu (22). Police also recovered ₹6.22 lakh cash, the bag in which the money was kept, and the knife used in the crime.
On September 28, complainant Adarsh Shrivastav, an employee of Adib Alam, was carrying ₹8 lakh cash collected from an employee of Pearl company near Jaipur Golden Hospital, Rohini. Suddenly, the accused stopped him, threatened him with a knife, and robbed the money before escaping.
A special team led by Inspector Pukhraj Singh of NR-I Crime Branch, under the supervision of ACP Ashok Sharma, was formed to trace the robbers. The team checked more than 100 CCTV cameras and worked on technical as well as manual inputs.
On September 30, two accused, Bharat and Hitesh, were caught near Japani Park, Rohini.
On October 3, their associates Ashwani and Gautam were arrested near Mukarba Chowk. The stolen cash and weapon were also recovered from their possession.
The mastermind Ashwani had planned the robbery a day before along with his associates. They decided to target the victim when he was carrying cash near Jaipur Golden Hospital. After committing the crime, they split in different directions and later regrouped at a park in Mangolpur Kalan.
Profiles of the Accused
1. Ashwani @ Ashu (son of Brahampal):
He is the mastermind of the robbery and arranged the knife used in the crime. He belongs to Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, and has been living in an MCD flat in Sector-4, Rohini, for a long time. He lives with his parents, one sister, and one younger brother. He studied up to Class 12 in a government school in Pitampura. He works as a housekeeping supervisor in a private company. He is addicted to alcohol and ganja.
2. Gautam @ Bhura (son of Bishan Lal):
He is a permanent resident of Delhi. He lives with his parents, one sister, and one younger brother. He studied up to Class 12 in a government school in Sector-2, Rohini. He is unemployed and addicted to alcohol and ganja. Due to poverty and lack of work, he started spending time with bad company and got involved in petty crimes.
3. Bharat Kirad (son of Rajan Kirad):
He belongs to Rewari, Haryana, but has been living in Mangolpuri, Delhi, for a long time. He lives with his parents. He studied up to Class 12 in a government school in Mangolpuri. He is addicted to alcohol. Due to poverty and unemployment, he fell into bad company and started doing petty crimes.
4. Hitesh Pawar @ Hittu (son of Ramesh Pawar):
He belongs to Sikar, Rajasthan, but has been living in Mangolpuri, Delhi, for a long time. He lives with his parents and two sisters. He studied up to Class 12 in a government school in Pitampura. He is addicted to alcohol. Because of poverty and unemployment, he also started mixing with bad company and got involved in petty crimes.
