GAMBLING RACKET BUSTED IN HOTEL DEV PALACE, KIRTI NAGAR

Report : Manmeen Walia, New Delhi

West District Police busted a gambling racket running inside Hotel Dev Palace in Kirti Nagar, New Delhi. A total of 08 gamblers were caught red-handed, and stake money amounting to ₹1,10,700/- was recovered from the spot.

The raid was conducted by a dedicated team of Special Staff/West District led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar Maurya (I/C Special Staff) and supervised by ACP Operations West, under the overall guidance of DCP West District, Darade Sharad Bhaskar.

During the operation, the police team received a specific tip-off about a gambling activity going on in a hotel room named “Queen” on the second floor of Hotel Dev Palace. Acting swiftly, the team carried out surveillance near Moti Nagar Metro Station and then conducted a successful raid after completing all legal formalities.

Upon entering the room, the police found eight men engaged in gambling activities. They tried to escape but were immediately overpowered by the alert police team.

Accused Persons

  1. Nikhil Marwah (36) – Mansarovar Garden
  2. Himanshu Taneja (31) – Namdhari Colony, Kirti Nagar
  3. Abhishek Marwah (26) – Subhash Nagar
  4. Sanjeev (27) – Subhash Nagar
  5. Vasu Bhatti (24) – Hari Nagar
  6. Rajan Gagneja (32) – Mansarovar Garden
  7. Karir (25) – Vishnu Garden
  8. Akash Kapoor (29) – Saraswati Garden, Ramesh Nagar

A total of ₹1,10,700/- was seized as gambling money. A case has been registered under the Delhi Public Gambling Act at PS Kirti Nagar, and further investigation is underway.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that all accused are residents of nearby areas and knew each other. The hotel was already under suspicion for hosting such illegal activities. Interestingly, the hotel rooms are not numbered but named after playing cards such as King, Queen, Jack, Hearts, and Spades, suggesting a deliberate gambling theme.

The police are now investigating the source of the stake money, identifying other people involved, and probing any possible links to organized crime syndicates.

The swift and efficient action by the Delhi Police, West District, reflects their strong commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens.

DCP West District, Darade Sharad Bhaskar, deserves special appreciation for his proactive leadership and constant supervision that led to the successful busting of the gambling racket. His firm stance against illegal activities and dedication to a crime-free society continue to inspire confidence among the public and motivate the police force to perform with excellence and integrity.
