Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
Karol Bagh Police have solved a major theft case involving ₹42,39,400, stolen from a mobile wholesale shop in Gold Plaza, Bank Street. The team not only uncovered an inside role but also made a big recovery of ₹13.50 lakh.
The shop owner filed an e-FIR after discovering that someone had broken the rear window of his shop and stolen ₹42.39 lakh in cash kept inside. The theft happened during the night of 04–05 November
A special team of PS Karol Bagh officers was formed under the supervision of Inspector Karuna Sagar, SHO Karol Bagh, and the overall supervision of ACP Ashish Kumar.
CCTV footage showed four men entering the shop at 2:15 AM and escaping at 2:50 AM.
Their movement was traced from Ashok Vihar → Shastri Nagar → Karol Bagh.
They took an e-rickshaw and later an auto, making the tracking difficult.
The team used advanced facial-recognition tools (C-Trace / C-Boat) to match their faces captured on CCTV.
Technical surveillance and CDR checks exposed a link between shop employee Suraj and the accused group.
The clues revealed that Suraj, a shop employee, had shared information about the huge cash kept in the shop. He was in regular contact with the offenders before the theft.
A team was sent to Mukundpur, where Suraj (23) was arrested.
Police recovered ₹13,50,000 from his possession — part of the stolen cash.
During questioning, Suraj confessed that he leaked all the information to his associates out of greed.
Arrested Accused:
• Suraj, 23, resident of Mukundpur, Delhi
Recovery:
• ₹13,50,000 (part of the stolen amount)
The other four accused — Rishabh, Avinash, Abhishek, and Anil of Shahjahanpur — are still absconding. Multiple raids are underway in Delhi and nearby states to catch them.
