Report : Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of East District Police has busted an inter-state gang involved in stealing luxury cars from different parts of Delhi and selling them in other states. Two auto-lifters have been arrested, and one stolen car along with fake number plates has been recovered.
Acting on specific intelligence, a dedicated team of AATS East, under the supervision of ACP/Operations Sanjay Kumar and leadership of Inspector Pawan Yadav, arrested Satish (37) and Manoj (36) — both residents of Veer Singh Colony, Budh Vihar Phase-II, Rithala, Delhi.
During interrogation, Satish revealed that he is a habitual offender previously involved in multiple vehicle theft cases. He, along with his associates, used duplicate keys to steal luxury vehicles, changed their registration numbers with fake plates, and sold them in Punjab, Rajasthan, Kolkata, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat.
Based on his disclosure, the police recovered a black Hyundai Creta (HR05BG**)** stolen from the area of PS Pandav Nagar. Fake number plates used to hide the identity of stolen vehicles were also seized.
The accused Satish has a long criminal history and has been previously involved in 26 criminal cases, including those under the Gangsters Act, Attempt to Murder, Cheating, Arms Act, and Vehicle Theft. Raids are underway to nab his absconding associate, Arif @ Mohd. Ali, from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
The East District Police once again proved their efficiency and commitment through the excellent work of the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS). The successful busting of an inter-state auto-lifter gang reflects the team’s alertness, coordination, and dedication to duty.
DCP East District, Abhishek Dhania, deserves special appreciation for his strong leadership and guidance that continues to inspire the force. His focused approach towards tackling organised crime and ensuring citizens’ safety has strengthened public confidence in the Delhi Police.
