New Delhi, In a major breakthrough against organized crime, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a dreaded and convicted robber, wanted in three armed robberies that had spread panic in the Bawana area of Delhi.
The North Range-II (NR-II) team of the Crime Branch, known for its swift and precise operations, successfully tracked and apprehended the accused after a highly coordinated intelligence-driven chase.
Acting on specific and credible intelligence, a special team led by Inspector Neeraj Kumar Sharmaswung into action and arrested Sanjay (31), son of Nidhan, a habitual offender from Village Jatola, Sonipat (Haryana), near Rohini Sector-25, Delhi, on October 29
The operation was executed under the strategic supervision of ACP Narender Singh Beniwal, with the active participation of SI Balraj, ASI Ashok Kumar, ASI Parveen, and HC Vikas Dabas.
A meticulously planned trap was laid at the location, and with the help of technical surveillance and ground-level intelligence, the accused was caught red-handed before he could flee.
The accused, Sanjay, studied up to the 12th standard and later fell into the company of notorious criminals like Rahul alias Chiku and Sahil (son of Sumer). He soon became a career criminal.
Verification revealed his conviction in a rape/POCSO case in Haryana, for which he is currently out on bail granted by the Hon’ble High Court of Chandigarh. He also has a pending theft case registered at PS Bawana.
The accused was found to be involved in the following armed robbery cases:
1. FIR No. 589/25 – ₹4.2 lakh looted at gunpoint from a money transfer shop.
2. FIR No. 600/25 – ₹1.6 lakh robbed at gunpoint from another money transfer shop on the same day.
3. E-FIR No. 0080038423/25 – A bag containing 50 mobile phones robbed at gunpoint.
His arrest under Section 35(1)(c) BNSS has helped the police foil further violent crimesand bring relief to residents and traders in the area.
