The District Investigation Unit (DIU) of Outer-North Delhi has busted a major illegal manufacturing unit producing infringed engine oil under the brand name Castrol. A massive stock of fake oil containers, stickers, bottle caps and packing material was seized from a factory located in Budhpur, Bizapur, Alipur, Delhi.
On 9 December, DIU Outer-North received specific information about a factory secretly producing fake Castrol products. Acting swiftly, a raiding team was formed and was carried out by DIU officers fs Deepak, SI Rakesh, ASI Babinder, HC Mahesh and Ct. Praveen, under the leadership of ACP Narender Khatri and overall supervision of DCP Hareshwar Swami, Officials from M/s Castrol Limited also joined the team.
The team conducted a thorough raid at the identified location and recovered a large quantity of ready-to-sell fake oil and packaging items.
Police recovered:
• 239 litres of ready-to-supply fake Castrol oil
• 304 empty Castrol bottles with stickers
• 3,000 Castrol barcode stickers
• 706 red Castrol bottle caps
• 11,220 MRP stickers of different Castrol products
• Packing tools including a sealing machine, iron, plastic funnel, measuring tool, oil pump, gage, and 1 litre of orange liquid dye used in the fake oil
Other items seized include:
• 10,060 stickers of Castrol Activ 20W-40
• 1,160 stickers of Castrol GTX 20W-50
• 100 bottles of Castrol Activ 20W-40 (1 litre)
• 99 bottles of Castrol RX Super 15W-40 (1 litre)
• 4 buckets of Castrol CRB Plus 20W-40 (10 litre)
THE ACCUSED
Two men running the illegal factory for the last six months were arrested:
1. Ajay Bhardwaj (27), resident of Sonepat, Haryana
2. Sachin Sharma (22), resident of Jeevan Vihar, Sonepat, Haryana
They were supplying the fake oil across Delhi. A case under Sections 63/65 of the Copyright Act has been registered at PS Alipur.
This successful operation reflects the dynamic leadership of DCP Hareshwar Swami, whose sharp supervision, proactive approach and unwavering commitment to public safety ensured the swift busting of the illegal manufacturing unit. His focused policing and continuous guidance to the team played a crucial role in safeguarding consumers from large-scale fraud.
Further investigation is underway to identify the supply chain and other people involved in the racket.
