Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
Police have arrested three men — Firoz, Kamran, and Ausaf — all residents of Loni, Ghaziabad.
The accused, along with another associate, were involved in a theft near Peeragarhi Chowk on Tuesday–Wednesday night. During patrolling, a police team saw them and asked them to stop, but they tried to escape. Two police teams chased them, and during the chase on the Mangolpuri flyover, the accused fired at the police. In response, police also fired back, but all four managed to flee after abandoning their car and jumping to the other side of the road.
Later, the police recovered a Honda City car registered in the name of one of the accused, which gave them a crucial lead. Acting on this information, several raids were conducted to trace them.
Police then received information that the accused were hiding in the Nangloi area. Last night, a trap was laid near the Nangloi railway line, where an exchange of fire took place again. The police team successfully arrested the three accused after the encounter.
One of their associates, who had earlier fired at the police team, is still absconding, and efforts are being made to trace him.
