TELEGRAM INVESTMENT FRAUD RACKET EXPOSED — TEAM OF PS CYBER, CENTRAL DISTRICT UNCOVERED MASSIVE BANK INSIDER NETWORK

Report : Manmeen Walia, New Delhi

The Cyber Police Station of Central District has successfully uncovered a massive Telegram-based investment fraud racket that cheated several citizens by offering fake high-return investment schemes. The accused also had the support of bank insiders who helped them open and operate bogus accounts using forged documents.

Five accused have been arrested, and police have recovered 14 SIM cards, 4 mobile phones, 2 laptops, 17 company seals, 11 debit cards, forged IDs, and other digital evidence. Investigations have so far revealed over 250 mule bank accounts and 50 fake companies linked to the racket.

The police also found that certain bank employees were actively colluding with the fraudsters. These employees allowed accounts to be opened without verifying original IDs or conducting physical checks.

They accepted commissions of about 1.9% of each transaction and even tipped off the accused about ongoing investigations. One such banker, Mohit Dadhich, an officer at Karnataka Bank’s RK Puram branch, has been arrested. Another official, Abhishek, is absconding.

Accused Arrested

1. Rahul Kumar @ Ajay Kumar (32) – Operator of AJ Technology, used forged documents to run fake accounts.

2. Ajay Sharma (32) – Cyber café owner, helped create forged IDs.

3. Sonu Kumar (36) – Skating trainer, guided others on GST manipulation.

4. Kunal Sagar (28) – Agent, opened 23 fake accounts and managed transactions.

5. Mohit Dadhich (27) – Bank official, helped open fraudulent accounts and accepted bribes.

Recovered Items

• 14 SIM cards

• 4 mobile phones

• 2 laptops

• 17 fake company seals

• 11 debit cards

• Forged Aadhaar & PAN cards

• Digital evidence including Telegram chats and bank records

Police are now tracing absconding banker Abhishek and other members of the racket. The identified accounts have been frozen, and reports are being sent to the RBI and Karnataka Bank Headquarters for further action.

The Central District Cyber Police has urged citizens not to invest through Telegram or WhatsApp groups promising high returns. People are advised to report any such suspicious activity at cybercrime.gov.in or on the Cyber Helpline number 1930.

DCP Central District, Nidhin Valsan, has earned high appreciation for his strong leadership and commitment in guiding the Cyber Police team that successfully exposed the large-scale Telegram investment fraud racket. His focus on data-driven investigation, teamwork, and swift coordination played a crucial role in unearthing the deep nexus between cyber fraudsters and corrupt banking officials.

Under his supervision, the Central District Police once again demonstrated its professionalism, efficiency, and dedication in safeguarding citizens from organized financial crimes. The operation not only highlighted the sharp investigative skills of the team but also reflected the Delhi Police’s proactive approach in tackling modern cyber threats with advanced technology and relentless fieldwork.

The success of this case stands as another example of how DCP Nidhin Valsan and his team continue to uphold the trust of the public by ensuring justice, promoting awareness, and maintaining the safety and security of the people of Delhi.
