Report : Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested two cheats who were tricking people at ATMs and withdrawing money from their accounts using fake tricks.
A team of the Inter State Cell, Crime Branch was formed under the leadership of Inspector Shivraj Singh Bisht and supervision of ACP Ramesh Chander Lamba. The team successfully caught both the accused after careful investigation.
The accused used a clever method to cheat innocent ATM users. They would put glue in the ATM card slot so that the card got stuck. Then, they would paste a fake notice near the ATM showing a false “customer care” number.
When victims called that number, one of the accused would pretend to be a bank officer and ask them to re-enter their ATM PIN. The other accused would memorize the PIN. After the victim left, they removed the stuck card and withdrew money from the victim’s account using the PIN.
Arrested Persons
1.Raushan Kumar (Age 23, R/o Neb Sarai, Delhi) — No previous criminal record.
2.Pintu Kumar (Age 32, R/o Neb Sarai, Delhi) — Found involved in six earlier cases.
Recovery Made
•3 ATM cards belonging to the victims.
•Clothes worn by the accused during one of the incidents, confirmed through CCTV footage.

The investigation team has so far identified 9 victims and registered 4 FIRs in Delhi. Around 50 incidents of similar fraud have been traced. The police have contacted 22 possible victims and are working to identify more.
The Delhi Police has appealed to all citizens to remain extremely cautious while using ATMs and to avoid taking help from unknown persons under any circumstances. People are advised to carefully check the ATM machine before inserting their card and to immediately report any suspicious activity or stuck card to the bank or the nearest police station.
Citizens should always contact their bank through official customer care numbers printed on the back of their ATM card or on the bank’s official website. They should never share their PIN, OTP, or personal details with anyone claiming to be a bank representative.
