FAKE POLICE & FAKE INCOME TAX TEAM EXPOSED IN 1 KG GOLD HEIST – CENTRAL DELHI POLICE CRACKS THE CASE AFTER A MASSIVE MULTI-CITY OPERATION

Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi

The Central District Police exposed a fake police unit and a fake Income Tax squad involved in a sensational robbery of 1 kg gold from a jewellery workshop in Karol Bagh. A joint team of PS Prasad Nagar and Special Staff, Central District worked day and night for 72 hours and arrested five accused, including one government servant and another who posed as an OSD in the Public Relations Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

On 27 Nov 2025, five men entered a jewellery workshop in Karol Bagh. One of them wore a fake Delhi Police uniform, while the others pretended to be Income Tax officers. They seized mobile phones of the staff, conducted a fake raid, and stole 1 kg 1 gram of gold. The gang also took away the CCTV DVR to hide evidence.

A case was registered at PS Prasad Nagar, and an investigation started immediately.

A special investigation team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Rohit Kumar, Inspector Vikas Dabas, and SHO Subhash Chandr, with overall supervision of ACP Ashish Kumar and Ms. Sulekha Jagarwar, IPS, ACP Operations.

The team scanned over 250 CCTV cameras, collected human intelligence and used technical surveillance to identify the suspects. The investigation spread across nine cities in Delhi and Haryana—Rohtak, Hisar, Jind, Sonipat, Panipat, Gurugram, Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, and Delhi—covering more than 1200 km.

The first big breakthrough came when accused Sandeep (30) was traced and arrested from Bahadurgarh. His interrogation led the team to four more accused:

Rakesh Sharma @ Kesha (41) – Jind

Shaminder Pal Singh @ Sunny (43) – Hisar

Lavpreet Singh @ Kaka (30) – Hisar

Parvinder (42) – Rohtak

The police recovered:

435.03 grams of stolen gold

₹3.97 lakh cash

Three vehicles used in the crime: a Brezza, a Toyota Urban Cruiser, and a Swift Dzire

Five fake Delhi Police ID card holders and lanyards

• Clothes worn by the accused during the raid

During questioning, Sandeep revealed that he works as an OSD in the Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Department and often visited Delhi. A month earlier, his associate Parvinder, who claimed to be a government servant, told him about gold-related work in Karol Bagh. Another accused, Akram (absconding), shared details of the workshop.

Inspired by the Bollywood movie “Special 26”, the gang decided to conduct a fake raid. They arranged fake police and Income Tax uniforms and entered the workshop on 27 November. They stole the gold and divided it—500 grams kept by Parminder and 500 grams by Sandeep.

Sandeep later sold 428 grams of gold and gave ₹25.5 lakh to Rakesh for distribution among the team. The remaining money was used to pay his debts. The police have recovered part of the stolen gold and identified cash proceeds from the sale. Efforts are on to recover the remaining gold and arrest the absconding accused: Akram, Suresh @ Jammal, and Naveen @ Kala.

Arrested Accused

Parvinder (42) – Mastermind

Sandeep (30) – Team organiser, posed as govt. officer

Lavpreet Singh (30) – Acted as Income Tax officer

Shaminder Pal Singh (43) – Acted as Delhi Police SI

Rakesh Sharma (41) – Arranged fake ID card holders & lanyards

The Central District Police has once again demonstrated exceptional professionalism, commitment, and teamwork in cracking a highly sophisticated gold heist carried out by a fake police and fake Income Tax gang. The swift and coordinated action by the joint team of PS Prasad Nagar and Special Staff, Central District—covering more than 1200 km across multiple cities—shows the strength, capability, and efficiency of Delhi Police.

Special appreciation to the leadership of Inspector Rohit Kumar, Inspector Vikas Dabas, SHO Subhash Chandr and the overall supervision of ACP Ashish Kumar and Ms. Sulekha Jagarwar, whose guidance ensured sharp, timely, and accurate action.

The tireless efforts of the entire team—scanning over 250+ CCTV cameras, developing human intelligence, tracking suspects across Delhi and Haryana, and recovering gold, cash, and vehicles—reflect true dedication to public safety.

This successful operation has restored public trust, prevented further crimes, and once again proven that Central District Police works with honesty, courage, and excellence.

A heartfelt salute to every officer involved for their determination and outstanding teamwork.

The Central District Police have stated that the investigation is still underway and more recoveries are expected.
