Delhi Police have cracked a kidnapping case of a 1.5-year-old boy, arresting five accused, including the key conspirator, Srinivas. The arrested individuals have been identified as Srinivas, Anand, Raju, Sahil Kumar, and a juvenile.
According to police, on September 24, a PCR call was received reporting that a child had been kidnapped from the footpath near Gangaram red light. Police teams immediately rushed to the spot, recorded statements, and registered a kidnapping case, launching a hunt for the culprits.
Dozens of CCTV cameras from the area were scanned. Investigators tracked both the forward and backward routes of the kidnappers on a bike. Footage revealed the child being handed over to another person in a vehicle. With the help of the vehicle’s registration number, police traced the entire route and conducted raids near Agra. Finally, the child was rescued safely from Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.
According to DCP Nidhin Valsan the victim’s family had come from Rajasthan to Delhi to sell handicraft items, during which their child was kidnapped.
During interrogation, the main accused Santosh alias Srinivas revealed that he already has two daughters and wanted a son. He came in contact with some criminals and struck a deal for ₹1 lakh to “buy” a boy. An advance of ₹40,000 was paid, with the rest promised after the child’s delivery.
