The Southern Range of Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted a major narcotics racket on 23sep, and arresting two accused, including a Nigerian national, and recovering 202 grams of high-quality MDMA (Ecstasy) valued at over ₹2 crore, along with psychotropic injections and syringes.
The Southern Range of Delhi Police Crime Branch has achieved a major breakthrough against narcotics syndicates with the seizure of MDMA worth more than ₹2 crore in South Delhi. On the intervening night of September 17–18, a special team led under the supervision of ACP Girish Kaushik intercepted a suspicious car with tinted windows near Chirag Delhi around 12:10 AM. Upon searching the vehicle, the team recovered 196 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy), four psychotropic injections, and eight syringes. The seized contraband was later confirmed as a psychotropic substance by forensic experts, marking a significant success in curbing the supply of illegal drugs in the Capital.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Akash Kashyap alias AK alias Yo, a resident of Govindpuri, was arrested. He is a habitual offender with past involvement in four criminal cases, including one under the Arms Act. During interrogation, he confessed to procuring drugs from a Nigerian supplier named Chime and distributing them in South and South-East Delhi.
Acting on Accused Kashyap’s disclosure, the police traced and arrested Chime Sabastine, a Nigerian national. He attempted to escape by jumping from his balcony, fracturing his leg in the process, but was later declared fit for arrest after treatment at Safdarjung Hospital. Investigations revealed that Chime had come to India on a medical visa in April 2024, which expired in August 2024, and had been overstaying illegally. A drug user himself, he admitted to peddling narcotics to meet his expenses and revealed the name of another Nigerian national who supplied him.
The successful crackdown on this high-value drug racket highlights the dedicated efforts of DCP Crime Branch, Aditya Gautam, and his team, whose swift action and exact planning executed a major blow to narcotics syndicates operating in the Capital. By intercepting the drug suppliers and seizing MDMA worth over ₹2 crore, the team not only disrupted a dangerous supply chain but also safeguarded countless lives from the harmful impact of these substances. This operation stands as a testament to the Crime Branch’s commitment, professionalism, and relentless pursuit of keeping Delhi safe from organized crime and drug trafficking.
