Report: Manmeen Walia, New Delhi
The Operations Cell of South West District Police has detained three illegal Bangladeshi migrants who were residing unlawfully in India. Their Bangladeshi identity documents were confirmed after contacting their family members in Bangladesh. After completing all codal formalities, the deportation process has been initiated with the assistance of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), New Delhi.
To stop the problem of illegal and overstaying foreign migrants, the Operations Cell of South West District was asked to collect information and take strict action against such people. Following these directions, a police team was made under the leadership of Inspector Gajender Singh (I/C ANC/SWD) and supervision of Sh. Vijaypal Singh Tomar, ACP/Operations/SWD.
A secret input was received regarding some illegal Bangladeshi nationals roaming in RK Puram area. The police team immediately acted on the information, intercepted the suspects, and asked for valid documents. On enquiry, the individuals failed to produce any legal papers and admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India in 2025 using valid visas but did not return after expiry. They further disclosed that they intended to migrate to European countries like Portugal but, due to failure in obtaining visas, had settled temporarily in South Delhi. At the time of apprehension, they were searching for work in the South West area.
After verifying their mobile phones and social media accounts, the team contacted their family members in Bangladesh and obtained their National ID Cards and Passports. After verification, necessary legal procedures were completed, and their deportation process was initiated through FRRO, New Delhi.
