In a heartbreaking incident at Jagatpuri Extension, a 5-year-old girl, XYZ, lost her life after being struck on the head by an iron rod falling from an under-construction building.
On 28Sep, at around 11:00 a.m., a PCR call was received at PS GTB Enclave regarding an accident at Gali No. 4, Jagatpuri Extension. On reaching the spot, police found that the young girl had sustained a severe injury to her right eye while walking through the area. She was immediately rushed to GTB Hospital and admitted to the ICU. Unfortunately, during treatment, she succumbed to her injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a four-story building under construction had an iron rod placed as part of a platform for a water tank on the terrace. The rod fell from the building, causing fatal injuries.
Following the incident, FIR was registered on the statement of the child’s father. After her death, Section 106 BNS was added.
The building owner, Nathu Singh (68) s/o Girwar Singh, resident of A-43, Gali No. 4, Jagatpuri Extension, along with three laborers, has been arrested. The iron rod involved in the incident has been seized, and all construction work at the site has been halted.
The DCP Shahdara expressed deep grief over the incident and assured strict action against negligence in construction safety to prevent such tragedies in the future.
