The South-East Delhi Police have swiftly solved a case involving an assault on a woman journalist. Within just a few hours of the incident, both accused were traced and arrested.
The accused have been identified as Deepak (24 years) and Shubham, both residents of Dabri, Delhi. During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that both work as bartenders and were returning from Expo Mart, Greater Noida, late at night when the incident occurred. At the time of the assault, both were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
Police sources further confirmed that several criminal cases are already registered against the two accused. In CCTV visuals, Deepak was seen wearing a red T-shirt, while Shubham was seen in a black shirt.
The incident took place around 12:45 AM, when the journalist was heading home from work. Two men on a scooty started following her and tried to block her car. When she began recording a video to scare them off, they continued to chase her. One of them began hitting her car’s side mirrors, took out a something like a stick from his black colour bag and started hitting the side mirrors, causing both of them to break.
Showing presence of mind, the woman noted down their scooty’s registration number DL-9S-CR-1149 and called the police at 100 near the Ashram flyover. Acting promptly, the Delhi Police tracked down the accused and arrested them within hours.
The swift and efficient action of the Delhi Police, under the able leadership of DCP South-East Delhi, Hemant Tiwari, deserves high appreciation. Their dedicated teamwork and prompt response not only ensured the quick arrest of the accused but also reinforced the Delhi Police’s strong commitment to women’s safety and justice.
