New Delhi, The Crime Branch of Delhi Police in a major crackdown against food adulteration, has busted an illegal factory manufacturing fake desi ghee in Bawana Industrial Area. The factory was producing and packaging adulterated ghee under several brand names using refined oil and other non-dairy substances.
During the raid, the police arrested two accused — Satender (44) from Sonipat, Haryana, and Parveen (29) from Rohtak, Haryana. The team seized over 3,700 litres of adulterated ghee, along with a large quantity of raw materials, packaging material, and machinery used for manufacturing and sealing fake products.
The operation was conducted by the team of Eastern Range–I, Crime Branch, led by Inspector Lichhman under the supervision of ACP Sunil Srivastava. The team acted on specific information and carried out a swift and well-coordinated raid at the factory premises in Bawana.
During inspection, the unit was found actively producing fake desi ghee using refined oil and chemicals instead of pure ingredients. The seized items included mixing and heating units, tetra-packing and sealing machines, weighing machines, wrapper rolls, and empty packaging of various known brands.
A case has been registered under Sections 274/275/318(2)/61(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 at PS Crime Branch, Delhi, for manufacturing and selling adulterated food items dangerous to public health.
Accused Profiles:
• Satender (44), resident of Sonipat, Haryana — a 10th pass individual who initially sold oil cakes but later turned to the illegal business of making fake desi ghee.
• Parveen (29), resident of Rohtak, Haryana — a 12th pass former auto driver who joined Satender a year ago to run the illegal factory.
